Military Family Resources

The Learning Center is proud to support members of the military and their families by offering resources to make their transition to our school and community easier.

Transition Planning

Moving to a new area can often be difficult and our school is prepared to welcome new families and students. We have a variety of resources to help families get acquainted with their new school and community.  Our counselor meets with students in order to make sure they have a smooth transition to their new school.

Student Led Transition Team

We have a student transition team on campus that is composed of students from military families or students involved in JROTC. This team provides new students with necessary information about the school, conducts school tours, and assists with military events on campus.

Academic Planning

The Learning Center offers opportunities for academic planning with the school counselor and/or administration throughout the year, along with collaborating with other district schools to ensure the best educational experience for our students.

Exceptional Education Services

Special services are provided for students that meet the criteria. Our district has a variety of instructional resources to address the needs of our special education population.

Military Recognition Programs

We host several military recognition events throughout the year, including a display to honor or remember military service members, National “Purple Up Day” to support military families, and student letters to active service members. You can follow The Learning Center’s Facebook page for highlights of these events.

Mental Health Services

Rankin County School District school counselors are prepared to handle a variety of mental health needs that may arise throughout the year. Our school partners with Region 8 Mental Health Services which allows us to have a Region 8 counselor and therapist housed on our campus
